SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (May 30, 2006) – BoomerangIt, the leading global lost
and found return service, has signed an exclusive licensing agreement that will
bring its services to bicycle owners in Israel. Operating as BoomerangIt Israel,
the new company will market and sell BoomerangIt as a nationwide bicycle registration
and recovery service, creating the only bike registry of its kind in Israel.
BoomerangIt Israel was formed by Avi Ganor, publisher of Bicycle magazine, Israel’s
first bicycle lifestyle magazine. According to Ganor, a quarter of a million new
bikes, many of them sophisticated and expensive, are sold each year in Israel. As
bike ownership has increased in Israel, so has bike theft and loss. With BoomerangIt’s
service, Israeli bike owners can protect their investment and significantly increase
the likelihood of getting their stolen bike back.
BoomerangIt Israel allows bicycle owners to register their bikes at low cost
online, by phone, or by mail, and then apply serialized, tamper-resistant ID labels
to the bikes. If the bicycle should be lost or stolen, it can be easily identified
and returned to the owner when recovered by police or a Good Samaritan. Following
the instructions from the label, finders simply contact BoomerangIt Israel, which
then arranges for the return – promptly and confidentially.
With the BoomerangIt Israel service, a three-year subscription can be purchased
for 49 shekels (about US $10). Discounts are given to members of the Israel Bike
Federation.
“This agreement further reinforces BoomerangIt’s position as the world’s leading
lost and found return service,” said BoomerangIt founder and president, Eddie Orton.
“With a brand name that is easily identifiable and recognized by people around the
world, Israelis can rest assured that their bikes will be better protected when
registered with BoomerangIt.”
Orton added, “The cost to register a bike is minimal when you consider the investment
in the bike itself. Lost and stolen belongings in the U.S. are returned to their
owners every day because of the effectiveness of the BoomerangIt service.”
The BoomerangIt Israel database will be available to the Israeli Police, so when
a bike is found by a law enforcement officer, it can be easily cross-referenced
with the owner’s information for a quick return For BoomerangIt Israel’s Ganor,
the service was a natural outgrowth of his other bicycle interests. “I am a bike
enthusiast and have produced publications and hosted web sites promoting bike safety
and tips,” he explained, “so it was natural for me to create this venture and license
the BoomerangIt brand and technology.”
BoomerangIt Israel will be heavily marketed and promoted through www.boomerangit.co.il
and through Ganor’s bicycle magazine website www.tapuz.co.il/bike
and blog www.tapuz.co.il/blog/manageBlog.asp?sp=1 , as well as through bike,
sports and camping stores, bike and bike lock manufacturers, insurance companies,
Israeli Police and the Post Office. In addition, Ganor intends to promote the service
at bike rallies and races.
